The 59th Annual National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday, May 6, 2010.
"The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in Him." - Nahum 1:7
With a vision for 24/7 prayer in our city, the Nashville House of Prayer is setting our hearts early to be part of the National Day of Prayer 2010. The theme for this 59th Annual Observance is, “Prayer for Such a Time as This.” The above scripture sets the focus for this New Year’s event!
President George W. Bush said it well when he said, “Prayer has the power to change lives, and to change the course of history.”
Ravi Zacharias, Honorary NDP Chairman 2008, declared, ‘I don’t know of any time in recent memory where it has been more important for us as a nation to get on our knees than now.’ He sites in Nehemiah, that in 13 short chapters, it is written 11 times: “So he prayed…. So he prayed…. So he prayed, etc.” ‘Nehemiah recognized that at a time when his city lay in ruins, the starting point for him as a leader was going to be in prayer.’ And so in this key time in our nation, we want to echo this same theme.
May we begin now to seek the face of our Lord, who, for such a time as this, has a destiny, not only on your individual lives, but on our nation as a whole. May we not forget the sacrifices that have been made in the past to win and preserve our freedoms here in America.
Let’s ask Him early this year for His guidance and direction for our current president, our local and national leaders, and, as well, ask Him to reveal our role to play in this end time move.
God Bless,
